Lottery delayed to April 18

Due to technical difficulties, we were unable to complete Silver Lake’s lottery last night. We will hold the lottery tonight, Thursday April 18 at 8:00 p.m. at The Assistance League, 5620 De Longpre Ave, Los Angeles, 90028.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Admissions Lottery Date

Important Lottery Info:  Due to a rescheduled LAUSD Board Meeting, all CWCLA schools are pushing their lotteries back by one week.  CWCLA has some revisions to our admissions policy that need to be acted upon by LAUSD’s board prior to holding our lotteries.

The rescheduled lotteries are as follows:

CWC Silverlake – Wednesday, 4/17 at 7:30 pm at The Assistance League 5620 De Longpre Ave., Los Angeles 90028

CWC Hollywood – Thursday 4/18 at 4:00 pm at Le Conte Middle School auditorium 1316 N. Bronson Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90028 (signage will be posted)

CWC Mar Vista – Monday 4/22 at 6:00 pm at Mar Vista Public Library 12006 Venice Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90066 (signage will be posted)

As always the lotteries are open public events and all are welcome to attend.  We’re excited to be moving to an electronically conducted lottery process this year, which should mean a faster, smoother event.

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience of this scheduling change.  We will notify all who aren’t able to attend of the results as soon as possible afterwards (within approximately 1 week).

Thank you,

Amy Held

Message from Amy Held regarding a special Board Meeting March 19

Hi all,

I’m writing to let you know that a special board meeting has just been scheduled for tomorrow night to address two time sensitive items that came up since the last regular board meeting and must be acted upon before the next regular meeting. These are fairly routine applications to the state, which are described below, and the full agenda is attached.

On a parallel track, I know our school communities are engaged in active dialogue about the draft licensing agreement – this item is NOT on the agenda for tomorrow’s special board meeting and will come before the board at its next regular board meeting on Wednesday, April 3rd at 6pm at CWC Hollywood. There will be two more community meetings to discuss the draft agreement – one at CWCSL k/1 campus 1530 N. Wilton (enter off of Carlson Ave near St. Andrews – street parking) at the picnic tables and another at CWCH at 8:40am on Tuesday, April 2nd also at the picnic tables (enter off of Bronson Ave and Fernwood – street parking).

The time sensitive items coming to the board tomorrow all relate to addressing the cash flow challenges created by the state deferrals (delays in the state issuing funds to schools). The state recently released the application for the revolving fund for new charter schools. The revolving loan offers very low interest loans to new charters to help with cash flow challenges that often arise due to deferrals in the issuance of state funding. Many charters statewide avail themselves of this. The application is due three weeks after it was released and it requires board authorization. The second item is an application for exemption from the next round of state deferrals (to avoid further cash flow challenges).

This application was also just recently released and is due back before the next board meeting. The last item on the agenda is board action on a line of credit from PWB which is also a mechanism for cash flow purposes to assist with operating costs which is needed due to state delays in the issuance of funding. Please note that our schools and region have balanced budgets and these instruments are merely to help with the delayed timing of when revenues come in to the schools as a result of state deferrals. Please feel free to email me with any questions about anything.

Thanks!

Amy Held
